My work emerges from several formative contexts: being raised in Los Angeles, studying psychology and neuroscience, and co-founding the creative hardware company Checkpoint. My practice moves across mediums, allowing painting, object, and technological systems to exist in a porous creative process. Recent projects range from large square canvases rendered from architectural 3D scans, small camera systems that print images on receipt paper, and hi-fi stereo speakers sheathed in fox fur. Though materially distinct, the works respond to a common set of relationships—the individual and the collective, the synthetic and the natural, and the obscured versus the revealed. Right now, I create work as a form of psychological experimentation: constructing situations and objects that probe perception and embodied experience.

*Future Forward Feature "This work is from a series titled Yupo Studies (3). Yupo was developed in the late 1960s by Japan’s Oji Paper and Mitsubishi Chemical. While it existed for decades in industrial and commercial contexts, it only began to see widespread adoption by artists in the United States in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, making it a young surface within contemporary art. Fascinated by it's shimmering properties and the way it layers the synthetic and organic, I created these works late at night, working in one session from start to finish and allowing my mind to form a small homunculus world of scenes as they surfaced. From giant cliffs in Vietnam to tide pools in Laguna Beach, memories of places become fractured and reassembled within a field of color."
